Match 68: Deccan Chargers vs Rajasthan Royals (preview)

Posted on 18 May 2024 by admin

The 68th match of the DLF IPL 5 season will have the Deccan Chargers facing the Rajasthan Royals at Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad on the 18th of March 2012. Deccan Chargers are a bit troubled at the moment due to their loss and match fixing accusations and the only thing which could revive their happiness is a win. Though their chances of entering the playoffs are minimum, Rajasthan Royals will still play for their pride.RR have scored 14 points from as many matches played. For them to make it to the playoffs, they not only need to win here, but also hope other results to go their way. And then, they need to beat the Mumbai Indians in the final league fixture of the season. The Deccan Chargers, on the other hand, with only two wins from 14 matches, are last on the table. While batting first, the Deccan Chargers have scored more than 157 – the par score in IPL 2012 – on seven occasions, but they’ve only managed to defend it twice. That fact clearly highlights that their bowling department hasn’t quite delivered the goods. In their last match, DC scored 190 for four batting first, but still ended up on the losing side as Kings XI Punjab chased the total down off the last ball. The record between the Deccan Chargers and the Rajasthan Royals is rather lopsided in favour of the latter; of the eight matches between the two teams, the Rajasthan Royals have emerged victorious on seven occasions.

The Rajasthan Royals have won each of the last four meetings between the two teams. In the most recent meeting between the two teams (at Jaipur, earlier this season) the Royals successfully chased down 197 to win by five wickets

Match 61: Kings XI Punjab vs Deccan Chargers (review):

Posted on 14 May 2024 by admin

On May 13, 2024 Mohali witnessed a ‘ nail biting’ match between Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Deccan Chargers (DC) in the 61st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012.

Punjab gave an awesome fight to the Hyderabad team beating their 190 score by a splendid boundary on the last ball, when they had only one run to win and only a single delivery in hand. The Kumar Sangakkara-led team can ill-afford any slip-up at this stage as there is a mad scramble among the teams to seal a berth for the play-offs.

Of the nine teams taking part in the competition, the Chargers have just two wins from 13 games. They along with Pune Warriors, who are currently placed eighth with four wins from 14, are out of the hunt.

With 12 points from an equal number of matches, the Punjab side, which managed to reach semi-final only once, in 2008, is placed at seventh in the table.

The battle has got intense now as top-of-the-table-team Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders may have virtually assured themselves of a spot in the play-offs, among rest of the five teams — Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Punjab -.

Punjab have tough games coming up as they haven’t played Delhi Daredevils yet and will be taking them on in Delhi after Sunday’s match followed by another one at Dharamsala later.

Match 46: Chennai Super Kings Will Face Deccan Chargers

Posted on 04 May 2024 by admin

Chennai Super Kings will face the Deccan Chargers at their home ground (MA Chidambaram Stadium) on May 4, 2012. This will be the second and final match between the two teams in this season. Chennai needs a win against the Deccan Chargers in order to accelerate to the top positions of the IPL 2012 points table, while the Deccan Chargers will try hard to win this match to show what their team is really capable of.

Skipper Kumar Sangakkara and Cameron White have found back their form which is a bright sign for the Deccan Chargers and they will be desperate to prove themselves as worthy contenders in the IPL. Shikhar Dhawan, Sangakkara, Parthiv Patel, Cameron White and JP Duminy will be the key players for the Deccan Chargers side in terms of batting.

Amit Mishra, with his perfect googly and wrist arm action can be more devastating for the batsman, but the leg-spinner has not done that consistently for his team. In the bowling department Steyn is serving the team in the best possible way.

CSK is struggling with the top order batting. Mike Hussey is one of the top performers for CSK. Mike Hussey’s contribution will count for CSK in every single match from now on and it is his responsibility to lead the batting order from the front.

Mike Hussey will be followed by Francois Du Plessis, Badrinath, MS Dhoni, Dwanye Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja who have got immense potential in batting. Mike Hussey- Mr Cricket is back in the CSK lineup after a tiring schedule in the West Indies which is a good sign for CSK.

CSK would have had night mares of their bowling performance as it has been below average right throughout this tournament. Doug Bollinger who faltered in the opening matches has directed himself to the benches due to it. Kulasekara and Ravichandra Ashwin are the only two good performers with the ball. Both Dwayne Bravo and Jakati are contributing in bits and pieces which is not at all enough for the team at this level of the tournament.

Apart from these too Ankit Sharma, Cameron White and JP Duminy are the bowling options left out for Sangakkara. Indians fast bowlers Anand Rajan and Australian Daniel Christian are too costly with their economy rate. If Deccan Chargers find a way to restrict the scoring of their opponents with this bowling, the rest of the tournament will be a merry-go-round for them.
