Teams
The Indian Premier League will be competed between 8 franchised teams from different cities in India. A total of 59 matches will be played over the course of 44 days starting on April 18th 2008. Each team will have 7 home and 7 away games, with the top four progressing to the semi finals held in Mumbai on May 30th and 31st. The two finalists will then compete for the inaugral premiership on June 1st, in addition to advancing to the ICC Champions Twenty20 tournament.
Each franchise must enlist at least 16 players, consisting of 4 under 21 players and 4 local players, with the option of using up to 4 international stars per match.
